Instructional Design Shaped by Psychology, Business, and Technology

My Path to Instructional Design

My path to instructional design began with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a long-standing interest in how people learn. Studying attention, memory, motivation, and behavior gave me a foundation for designing learning that is clear, practical, and focused on performance.

Running my own business strengthened the project management, communication, and problem-solving skills I now bring to client work. Years of homeschooling also gave me hands-on experience developing curriculum, adapting instruction, creating assessments, and helping learners apply complex information.

Today, I combine those experiences with ongoing graduate study in Information Technology to design modern learning solutions for tech and SaaS organizations. My work is guided by both learner needs and the business outcomes each project is intended to support.

My Approach to Learning Design

Three principles guide how I plan, design, and evaluate every learning experience.

Respect the Learner

Focus on Performance

Make Complex Information Clear

I design clear, focused experiences that build on what learners already know and make thoughtful use of their time.

Learning is most useful when it helps people complete real tasks and make better decisions. I begin by defining what learners should be able to do and how that connects to the organization’s goals.

I organize complex information into practical steps, meaningful examples, and opportunities to practice so learners can apply it with confidence.

What Clients Can Expect

I bring a clear, organized, and collaborative approach to each engagement. At the beginning of a project, I ask focused questions to understand your goals, audience, materials, timeline, and approval process. Throughout the work, I communicate proactively, arrive prepared, and make it easy for you and your subject matter experts to provide feedback at the appropriate stages.

My focus is on delivering polished learning materials that your organization can use confidently. I keep design decisions aligned with the agreed-upon learner needs and business goals while managing the details required to move the project from discovery through final delivery.
